The Boston Celtics have signed forward Gabe McGlothan to an Exhibit 10 training camp contract. The 27-year-old undrafted prospect will join the organization with his G League rights already held by the Maine Celtics.
Gabe McGlothan is a 6-foot-7 power forward who played his college basketball at Grand Canyon University. He went unselected in the 2024 NBA Draft. After the draft, he joined the Denver Nuggets' G League affiliate, the Grand Rapids Gold. McGlothan most recently played for the Noblesville Boom in the G League.
With the Boom, he posted averages of 15.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He shot an efficient 52.2 percent from the floor. His three-point shooting was a notable strength, hitting 42.3 percent of his 4.2 attempts per contest.
This is a camp deal, so McGlothan faces an uphill battle to secure the Celtics' open two-way roster spot. His age and profile as an undersized four make him a long shot for the main NBA roster right now. The primary intent is likely to evaluate him in training camp and then assign him to the Maine Celtics for development.
Boston's front office, led by President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens, is constantly scouring for talent. Adding a player with McGlothan's shooting touch on a low-risk deal is a smart piece of business. It provides insurance and a potential contributor for their G League pipeline. The Celtics are rolling.
This high-level play sets a competitive environment for any new player trying to make an impression.
McGlothan will report to Celtics training camp with a chance to compete. His performance there will determine if he earns a two-way contract or heads to Maine. If he excels with the Maine Celtics, he could position himself for an NBA call-up later in the season. Another path is using the G League as a platform to land a more lucrative contract in an international league.
For the Celtics, the focus remains on integrating new pieces while maintaining their winning momentum. The Exhibit 10 deal is a minor transaction, but it reflects the ongoing work to build a complete organization from top to bottom.
